하나님의 섭리를 보여주는 사무엘상 29장

사무엘상 29장은 다윗이 처한 상황 속에서 그 속에서 나타나는 하나님의 섭리를 보여주는 중요한 장입니다.

1. 블레셋과 이스라엘의 대치

1. Now the Philistines had gathered all their forces at Aphek. And the Israelites were encamped by the spring that is in Jezreed. 2. As the lords of the Philistines were passing on by hundreds and by thousands, and David and his men were passing on in the rear with Achish,

블레셋은 군대를 아벡에 모으고, 이스라엘은 이스르엘에 있는 샘 곁에 진을 칩니다. 다윗과 그의 사람들은 아기스와 함께 블레셋 군대와 동행하여 전쟁에 참여합니다.

 

3 the commanders of the Philistines said, "What are these Hebrews doing here?" And Achish said to the commanders of the Philistines, "Is this not David, the servant of Saul, king of Israel, who has been with me now for days and years, and since he deserted to me I have found no fault in him to this day." 4. But the commanders of the Philistines were angry with him. And the commanders of the Philistines said to him, "Send the man back, that he may return to the place to which you have assigned him. He shall not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become an adversary to us. For how could this fellow reconcle himself to his lord? Would it not be with the heads of the men here? 5. Is not this David, of whom they sing to one another in dances,

 

블레셋 수령들은 다윗이 이스라엘의 왕 사울의 신하였음을 생각하여 그를 믿지 못합니다. 과거 다윗이 골리앗을 죽였을 때 사람들이 사울은 천천이요 다윗은 만만이라는 칭송을 기억한 것입니다. 그래서 다윗이 블레셋을 배반하고 자기 주인 사울에게 돌아갈까 염려한 것입니다.

2. 아기스의 신임

'Saul has struck down his thousands, and David his ten thousands?"

 6. Then Achish called David and said to him, "As the Lord lives, you have been honest, and to me it seems right that you should march out and in with me in the campaign. For I have found nothing wrong in you from the day of your coming to me to this day. Nevertheless, the lords do not approve of you. 7. So go back now, and go peaceably, that you may no tdisplease the lords of the Philistines." 8 And David said to Achish, "But what have I done? What have you found in your servant from the day I entered your service until now, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lords the king?"

 

아기스는 다윗의 충성심을 믿었습니다. 그래서 그를 열심히 변호했지만 블레셋 수령들의 강한 반대에 부딪혀 결국 다윗에게 시글락으로 돌아가라고 말합니다. 다윗은 전쟁에 참여하게 된 것에 아쉬움을 표하지만, 결국 아기스의 명령에 따라 아침에 일찍 일어나 블레셋 사람들의 땅 시글락으로 돌아갑니다.

3. 하나님의 섭리

9. And Achish answered David and said, "I know that you are as blameless in my sight as an angel of God. Nevertheless, the commanders of the Philistines have said, 'He shall not go up with us to the battle.' 10. Now then rise early in the morning, and de[art as soon as you have light." 11. So David set out with his men early in the morning to return to the land of the Philistines. But the Philistines went up to Jezreel.

 

다윗은 사울의 미움을 받는 입장에서 자기 나라가 아닌 블레셋과 함께 동족과 싸워야 하는 최악의 딜레마에 빠져 있었습니다. 그 와중에 다윗이 이스라엘과 싸웠다면 그는 왕으로서의 정당성에 흠집을 남겼을 텐데 오히려 블레셋 사람들이 그가 이스라엘 사람들과 싸우는 것을 막아 주는 꼴이 된 겁니다. 이것을 사람들은 하나님의 오묘한 섭리라고 합니다. 사실 하나님이 하신 일은 하나도 없지 않나요?

사무엘상 29장은 다윗이 인간적인 연약함과 잘못된 선택으로 인해 큰 위기에 처했지만, 하나님께서 그를 버리지 않으시고 놀라운 섭리로 그를 구원하시는 이야기입니다. 이 장은 우리가 어려운 상황에 처했을 때라도 하나님의 주권적인 인도하심과 보호하심을 신뢰해야 함을 가르쳐 줍니다.
