사무엘상 26장 읽기

1. Then David said in his heart, "Now I shall perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should escape to the land of the PHIlistines. Then Saul will despair of seeking me any longer within the borders of Israel, and I shall escape out of his hand." 2. So David arose and went over, he and the six hundred men who were with him, to Achish the son of Maoch, king of Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, and David with his two wives, Ahinoam of Jezreel, and Abigail of Carmel, Nabal's widow. 4 And when it was told Saul that David had fled to Gath, he no longer sought him.

다윗이 생각하기에 사울이 하도 자신에게 집착하여 죽이려고 드니 이스라엘 국경에선 더는 머물 수가 없겠다며 블레셋으로 가야겠다며 600명을 이끌고 그곳으로 가게 됩니다. 이후로 사울은 그를 쫓지 않았다고 합니다.

5. Then David said to Achish, "If I have found favour in your eyes, let a place be given to me in one of the country towns, that I may dwell there. For why should your servant dwell in the royal city with you?" 6 So that day Achish gave him Ziklag. Therefore Ziklag has belonged to the kings of Judah to this day. 7 And the number of the days that David lived in the country of the Philistines was a year and four months.

블레셋에 도착하여 다윗은 가드 성에 머무는 것이 왕에게 부담이 될 것을 염려하여 아기스에게 자신과 추종자들이 살 수 있는 작은 성읍을 달라고 요청합니다. 그러자 블레셋의 왕 아기스는 시글락이란 성읍을 다윗에게 줍니다. 이것이 시글락은 다윗 왕국의 시작점 중의 하나가 됩니다.

3. 블레셋에게 안심을 준 다윗의 처세

한국식으로 따지면 매국노 소리를 들었을지도 모르겠습니다만, 다윗은 블레셋 왕 아기스를 안심시켜 주기 위해 노략한 전리품 중  일부를 블레셋 왕에게 바치며 안심 혹은 환심을 삽니다. 그와 더불어 다윗 추종자들에게도 안락한 거처를 마련해 준 것이죠. 어찌 보면 다윗이 적의 품으로 와서 납작 엎드린 것처럼 보이나 그게 아니라고 하니까요. 어쨌거나 아기스의 완전한 신뢰를 입게 됩니다.

 

8. Now David and his men went up and made raids against the Geshurites, the Girzites, and the Amalekites, for these were the inhabitants of the land from of old, as far as Shur, to the land of Egypt. 9 AND David would strike the land and would leave neither man nor woman alive, but would take away the sheep, the oxen, the donkeys, the camels, and the garments, and come back to Achish. 10 WHEN Achish asked, "WHERE Have you made a raid today?" David would say, "Against the Negeb of Judah", or, "Against the Negeb of the Jerahmeelites", or "Against the Negeb of the Kenites." 11 And David would leave neither man nor woman alive to bring news to Gath, thinking, "lest they should tell about us and say, 'So David has done.'" Such was his custom al lthe while he lived in the country of the PHilistines. 12 And Achish trusted David, thinking, "He has made himself an utter stench to his people Israel; therefore he shall always be my servant."

4. 철저하게 자국의 이익을 생각한 다윗

다윗은 융통성이 없거나 꽉 막힌 사람이 아니었습니다. 그는 적절하게 적과도 타협하며 빼 먹을 것은 빼먹고 이익을 취하며 공생하는 법을 잘 구사하였습니다. 그러면서 자신의 세력도 확장하고 안전하게 자신을 보호할 수 있던 겁니다.
