하나님의 개입 방식 전환 사사기 2장

지도자가 없는 시대에 가나안에 정주한 이스라엘인은 바알을 섬기게 되고 천사가 와서 경고했지만 아랑곳 않는 것 같습니다. 결국, 신은 더는 개입을 하지 않는다고 합니다. 이것은 침묵의 심판인지 방관인지, 모세의 먹버인지 알 길이 막막합니다.

 

사자의 경고

1.Now the angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bochim. And he said, "I brought you up from Egypt and brought you into the land that I swore to give to your fathers. I said, 'I will never break my covenant with you, 2 and you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall break down their altars.' But you have not obeyed my voice. What is this you have done? 3 So now I say, I will not drive them out before you, but they shall become thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a anare to you." 4 As soon as the angel of the Lord spoke these words to all the people of Israel, the people lifted up their voices and wept. 5 ANd they called the name of that place Bochim. ANd they sacrificed there to the Lord.

 

 

여호수아 사후 지도자가 없는 이스라엘 백성들은 가관이었습니다. 12지파 중심의 수장들이 잘못을 했겠지만요. 뭔가 나락으로 떨어지는 것을 보고 하나님이 가만있지 못하고 천사들을 보냈습니다. 여기서는 엔젤이라고 되어서 천사라고 했지만 실제로는 하나님의 현현 혹은 단순 하나님의 메신저라고 보는 게 맞을 것 같습니다.

6. When Joshua dismissed the people, the people of Israel went each to his inheritance to take possession of the land. 7 and the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great work that the Lord had done for Israel. 8 ANd Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of 110 years. 9 And they buried him within the boundaries of his inheritance in Timnath-heres, in the hill country of Ephraim, north of the mountain of Gaash. 10 And all that generation also were gathered to their fathers. And there arose another generation after them who did not know the LORD OR THE work that he had done for Israel. 

 

개인의 시대가 암시되는 절인데요. 여호수아가 죽기 전 각 지파는 땅을 분배 받았고 이때부터 각자도생 모드로 돌아선 듯합니다. 여호수아는 기억의 상징으로 출애굽부터 가나안 정복이란 역사적 기억의 연결고리입니다. 모세와 함께한 세대의 마지막 생존자로 그는 110세 생을 마감했습니다. 모세는 120세에 생을 마감한 것에 비해 모세가 10살 깎인 이유를 모르겠네요. 여호수아처럼 110세에 생을 마감한 인물로 요셉이 있긴 합니다. 요셉은 이스라엘 백성의 이집트 정착을 완성한 자라면 여호수아는 이스라엘 백성의 가나안 정착을 완성한 자라서 110세로 설정한 듯합니다.

 우상 숭배의 시작

11. And the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and served the Baals. 12 And they abandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt. They went after other gods, from among the gods of the peoples who were around them, and bowed down to them. AND THEy provoked the Lord to anger. 13 They abandoned the Lord and served the Baals and the Ashtaroth. 14 So the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he gave them over to plunderers, who plundered them. ANd he sold them into the hand of their surrounding enemies, so that they could no longer withstand their enemies. 15 Whenever they marched out, the hand of the Lord was against them for harm, as the Lord had warned, and as the Lord had sworn to them. And they were in terrible distress. 

 

이들은 자신의 본분, 혹은 뿌리를 망각하고 이방의 신 바알을 섬기기 시작합니다. 그렇게 정체성과 감각의 단절로 인해서 자연스럽게 과거 자신들이 누구를 믿고 따랐는지 잊고 살았습니다. 그러나 이것은 처음부터 모순의 시작입니다. 유목에서 농경으로 정착하면서 농경신 바알을 섬기는 것은 자연스러운 수순이었습니다. 그런데도 괘씸하게 여긴다는 것은 좀 아이러니하지 않나요?

 

 이스라엘 배도에 대한 하나님의 반응

16 Then the Lord raised up judges, who saved them out of the hand of those who plundered them. 17. Yet they did not listen to their judges, for they whored after other gods and bowed down to them. They soon turned aside from the way in which their fathers had walked, who had obeyed the commandments of the Lord, and they did not do so. 18 Whenever the Lord raised up judges for them, the Lord was with the judge, and he saved them from the hand of their enemies all the das of the judge. For the Lord was moved to pity by their groning because of those who afflicted and oppressed them. 19 But whenever the judge died, they truned back and were more corrupt than their fathers, going after other gods, serving them and bowing down to them. They did not drop any of their pratices or their stubborn ways. 20 So the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he said, "Because this people has transgressed my covenant that I COMMANDED THEIR FAthers and have not oneyed my voice, 21 I Will no longer drive out before them any of the nations that Joshua left when he died, 22 in order to test Israel by them, whether they will take care to walk in the way of the Lord as their fathers did, or not." 23 So the LOrd left those nations, not driving them out quickly, and he did not give them into the hand of Joshua.

 

하나님은 더는 개입하지 않겠다고 하셨습니다. 일종의 포기인가요? 이는 자율의 기회이자 정체성의 시험대라고 하는데요. 애초에 이럴거면 그렇게 가스라이팅을 하지 말았어야죠. 하지만 하나님 탓을 할 것은 못된다고 봅니다. 모세와 여호수아 등 기득권들의 계략이 드러나는 것 같지 않나요?
