다윗의 언약 내용 사무엘하 7장
사무엘하 7장은 다윗 왕과 하나님 사이에 맺어진 중요한 언약을 기록한 장으로 이스라엘 역사와 신학에서 핵심적인 장면으로 꼽힌다.
1. 다윗의 정치적 정당성 확보
다윗은 왕궁에 평안히 거하게 되자, 하나님의 궤는 아직 장막에 있는 것을 보고 마음 아파합니다. 그는 나단 선지자에게 "나는 백향목 궁에 살거늘 하나님의 궤는 휘장 가운데 있도다"라고 말하며, 하나님을 위해 성전을 짓고 싶다는 뜻을 밝힙니다. 나단 선지자는 처음에 다윗의 선한 의도를 보고 "왕의 마음에 있는 모든 것을 행하소서 여호와께서 왕과 함께 계시니이다"라고 허락합니다.
1. Now when the king in his house and the Lord had given him rest from all his surrounding enemies, 2 the king said to Nathan the prophet, "See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells in a tent, " 3 And Nathan said to the king, "Go, do all that is in your heart, for the Lord is with you."
성경은 다윗의 신실한 믿음으로 포장하는 것 같지만, 이런 것을 신이 정령 원했을까요? 보통 현대 사회에서도 구청이나 시청사 건물 등을 보면 아주 삐까뻔쩍합니다. 국민들의 편의를 빌미로 하지만 사실 구청장 시장 등의 권위를 공고히 하고 싶은 아주 깊숙한 내면의 욕구가 발현된 것입니다.
고대부터 왕권 강화 전략으로 항상 궁전이나 성전을 거대하게 지은 것을 보지 않았습니까? 다윗도 마찬가지입니다. 자신은 편한 곳에 있는데 하나님의 궤가 초라한 곳에 있다고 성전을 짓겠다는 것이 참으로 의도적으로 보입니다. 신도 이 의도를 모르지는 않았겠죠.
2. 나단의 정체와 역할
신은 다윗의 의도를 간파한 것인지 왕실 예언자 나단을 통해 전하라고 합니다. 나단은 왕권과 신권을 매개하는 존재인데 이것도 의심스럽긴 합니다만 하나님은 나단을 통해 거부 의사를 밝힙니다. 장막에 거한 것을 부끄러워하지 말라고 합니다.
4. But that same night the word of the Lord came to Nathan, 5 "Go and tell my servant David, 'Thus says the Lord: Would you build me a house to dwell in? 6 I have not lived in a house since the day I brought up the people of Israel from Egypt to this day, but I have been moving about in a tent for my dwelling. 7. IN all places where I have moved with all the people of Israel, did I speak a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd my people Israel, saying, "Why have you not built me a house of cedar?"
그러면서 결국 하는 말이 다윗이 죽은 후 그의 자손이 왕위를 잇게 될 것이란 겁니다. 그리고 그의 아들이 성전을 건축하게 될 것이며 하나님은 그의 아버지가 되고 그는 하나님의 아들이 될 것이라고 합니다. 그러니까 다윗의 집과 나라와 왕위는 영원히 견고히 세워질 것이라고 하는데 이것이 다윗 언약의 핵심입니다.
8. Now, therefore, thus you shall say to my servant David, 'Thus says the lord of hosts, I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, that you should be prince over my people Israel. 9. AND I have been with you wherever you went and have cut off all your enemies from before you. AND I will make for you a great name, like the name of the great ones of the earth. 10 And I will appoint a place for my people Israel and will plant them, so that they may dwell in their own place and be disturbed no more. AND violent men shall afflict them no more, as formerly, 11 from the time that I appointed judges over my people Israel. And I will give you rest from all your enemies. Moreover, the Lord declares to you that the Lord will make you a house. 12. When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. 13. He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever. 14. I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. When he commits iniquity, I will discipline him with the rod of men, with the stripes of the sons of men, 15 but my steadfast love will not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away from before you. 16 AND your house and your kingdom shall be made sure for ever before me. Your throne shall be established for ever.'" 17. In accordance with all these words, and in accordance with all this vision, Nathan spoke to David.
이것은 모세가 십계명 등으로 자신의 권위를 공고히 한 것과 같은 맥락으로 읽힙니다.
18. THEN King David went in and sat before the Lord and said, 'Who am I , O Lord God, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far? 19 And yet this was a small thing in your eyes, O lord God. You have spoken also of your servant's house for a great while to come, and this is instruction for mankind, O Lord God! 20. AND what more can David say to you? For you know your servant, O lord God! 21. Because of your promise, and according to your own heart, you have brought about all this greatness, to make your servant know it. 22. Therefore your are great, O lord God. For there is none like you, and there is no god besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears. 23. And who is like your people Israel, the one nation on earth whom God went to redeem to be his people, making himself a name and doing for them great and awesome things by driving out before your people, whom you redeemed for yourself from Egypt, a nation and its gods? 24 And you established for yourself your people Israel to be your people for ever. And you, O Lord, became their God. 25. And Now, O Lord God, confirm for ever the word that you have spoken concerning your servant and concerning his house, and do as you have spoken. 26. And your name will be magnified for ever, saying, 'The Lord of hosts is God over Israel', and the house of your servant David will be established before you. 27. For you, O Lord of hosts, the GOD of Israel, have made this revelation to your servant, saying, "I will build you a house.' therefore your servant has found courage to pray this prayer to you. 28. AND Now, O Lord God, your are GOd, and your words are true, and you have promised this good thing to your servant. 29. Now therefore may it please you to bless the house of your servant, so that it may continue for ever before you. For you, O Lord God, have spoken, and with your blessing shall the house of your servant be blessed for ever."
3. 다윗의 감사기도
나단과 짜고 친 고스톱인 것인지 여하튼, 다윗은 자신의 위치도 공고히 하고 후대까지 계승할 명분이 생기게 되었습니다. 비록 다윗 세대에는 화려한 성전은 짓지 못했지만 다음 세대에 지으라고 하니 이 또한 그것을 빌미로 착취가 합당 해졌을 테니까요.
4. 다윗의 계획
결국에 다윗은 나단이라는 선지자를 이용해 다윗 왕조의 권력을 세우고 하나님의 뜻인양 잘 포장한 것으로 보입니다. 이스라엘 왕정체제가 단순한 정치권력이 아닌 신적 질서로 자리 잡도록 만든 인물이 아닐 수 없습니다.
